In 2020, We Started With a Vision; Today, We’re Making a Difference
Meet The Need started with a vision that we could feed New Zealand. It seemed crazy at the time, but now it's amazing the difference we're making. All we wanted to do was connect the dots. We had farmers that wanted to donate some of what they produced, and we had families that were really doing it tough. In early 2020, with the help of our founding partner, Silver Fern Farms, we got our first meat packs out to the people in Canterbury. From there our charity took on a life of its own, and momentum quickly grew. Here is a snapshot of what we've achieved over the past four years.

New Zealand is renowned for its world class meat and dairy production.
Our country processes more than 26 million animals each year, providing billions of meals to people around the world. Yet, within our borders, many families are unable to afford a pack of mince or a carton of milk.
We believe that every New Zealander should enjoy the benefits of the quality produce we are so proud to share with the world.
We’ve come a long way since we first launched in 2020, but we still have over 100 food banks and community organizations on our waitlist. Check out our map to see which food banks are on our wait list, and which ones are already receiving our meat packs.
